e-Courts Services

The e-Courts project is about providing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) so as to enable the courts to make justice delivery system affordable and cost- effective. This project was conceptualized on the basis of the “National Policy and Action Plan for Implementation of Information and Communication Technology(ICT) in the Indian Judiciary- 2005” submitted by eCommittee, Supreme Court of India with a vision to transform the Indian Judiciary by ICT enablement of courts. The e-Courts project is aimed at making legal process easier and more user-friendly. Here the advocates, litigants and citizens can avail various e-services such as online case status and details, cause lists, judgments and orders. Advocates and litigants can file their suits electronically through e-Filing, pay the Court Fees or Fine in online mode and also avail online services from virtual court. The case related information can be also availed through SMS and email services. Thus, the key advantage of e-Courts is to make the justice delivery system speedy, affordable and transparent. It ensures easy access to justice to all sections of the society.

The Primary objectives of this project are :

To provide efficient and time- bound citizen centric services.
To develop, install and implement decision support systems in courts.
To automate the process to provide transparency in accessibility of information to its stakeholders.
To enhance judicial productivity, both qualitatively and quantitatively, to make the justice delivery system affordable, accessible, cost effective, predictable, reliable and transparent.

The Gauhati High Court has also enabled various e-courts services for the benefit of all the stakeholders.
